Frequently Asked Questions

 What is Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a comprehensive childbirth education program that focuses on preparing parents for a gentle and positive birth. It brings together evidence-based birth education, proven relaxation techniques and practical birth preparation ready for the day of your baby’s arrival. Hypnobirthing encourages a calm, peaceful and natural pregnancy, birth and bonding experience for families.

When should I complete the course?

Most people complete the course anywhere from 20 weeks onwards. It is good to have a little bit of time before baby arrives just to practise all the things we teach in the classes. I recommend completing the course round 20-30 weeks. But having said that I have also taught many women in their final weeks of pregnancy, even up to 38 weeks pregnant. As long as you are still pregnant, then its not too late to start preparing for a positive birth!

Who comes to the course?

The Hypnobirthing course is designed for both you and your birth partner, whoever that may be. It is recommended that both people attend the full course to ensure continuity of the program and support for the woman in labour.

What is included in the (group) course?

Included in the fee is the 12 hours tuition for both yourself and your birth partner as well as over $200 of Hypnobirthing Australia resources. These include: a parent portfolio, online resources, MP3 hypnosis tracks eBook, practise videos and birth videos as well as my support via text and email until baby arrives.

I want to use pain relief, is Hypnobirthing still for me?

Absolutely! Hypnobirthing is for all births! Whether you plan to use pain relief or not, this course is a comprehensive birth education program that helps you prepare for a positive, informed and empowered birth.

What if I end up having an emergency C-section? Is my Hypnobirthing knowledge wasted?

Absolutely not! No matter how hard we try, no one can control the direction that their birthing may take. If you end up deciding that a Caesarean section is the safest way for your baby to be born then you have definitely not lost anything by doing the Hypnobirthing course. In fact, many c-section Mamas say that they used their Hypnobirthing techniques more than they could have anticipated to keep themselves calm and present during their baby’s birth. It is also worth noting that simply by doing the Hypnobirthing course you have reduced your risk of a c-section through the knowledge and understandings you gain.

Will I be awake/aware when my baby is born?

Yes! Hypnobirthing uses self-hypnosis (and many, many other tools) to induce a deep state of relaxation. You will be fully aware, fully awake, and in fact many Hypnobirthing Mother’s say that due to their extreme relaxation their senses are actually heightened and they can recall their birth with such precise detail.

If you have any other questions please get in touch today. I would love to help you prepare for a positive and empowered birth!
